The 5 FAQs about upholstered furniture

Our work leads us to be in daily contact with your questions and curiosities. We collect statistics on the most frequent customers’ doubts, with regard to the whole world of upholstery furniture. In this article our staff answers the five most common questions, with the belief that this mini-guide will be useful for many.

1. Can the sofa covers be changed?

All the fabric, eco-leather or microfibre covers of Doimo Salotti sofas  are completely removable. This feature allows you to order the replacement covers only, even after years from the purchase of the sofa. We ensure the availability of the purchased sofa’s covering up to 10 years after the model has been dicontinued.
This means that even if the sofa has been discontinued, for another 10 years we can create and give you a new covering.
Over the years Doimo Salotti constantly updates its collections of fabrics and therefore we recommend you to contact your trusted retailer in order to choose the fabric that bests suits your needs, including scratchproof or stain resistant options.

2. Can the feet be changed?

If the sofa already consents multiple foot variants in terms of colors and shapes as its stanfard offering they can be changed, otherwise it’s not possible. To order them, just contact a Doimo Salotti retailer in your area, who will give you all the needed information.

3. How do you clean eco-leather?

A proper maintenance is essential for eco-leather coverings. DO NOT USE degreasers. While they may clean effectively, over time (it depends on how much you use them) they can severely damage the upholstery; technically this damage is referred to as the material being "burned" by this aggressive detergent. If you really have to remove stains , use a sponge damped with water and a small amount of mild soap. Be sure to dry the surface very well after the cleaning as moisture can damage eco-leather too!

4. Are there scratch-resistant fabrics?

No covering can guarantee a 100% scratch resistance. However, there are some fabrics which, due to their structure, are more resistant to tearing and fraying. Usually they are technical coverings  bonded with polyesters, such as some microfibers (EMMA) or fabrics with dense and tightly woven structures such as stain-resistant and water-repellent materials. Keep in mind that the choice of easily washable fabrics or an eventual sofa with removable cover can make the difference.

5. Can I remove the chaise longue and add the armrest?

It depends on the type of sofa you have purchased. If the sofa features a bayonet-type attachment system the change is possible, otherwise it’s not.

Stain and water resistant fabrics for sofas and armchairs

The sofas by Doimo Salotti can all be covered with stain-resistant fabrics and they represent the perfect combination of softness and resistance to both oil- and water -based liquids. Thanks to a special stain-resistant treatment these substances do not penetrate the fabric.

All this is possible thanks to advanced research and the application of innovative nanotechnologies capable of acting  directly on the yarn, resulting in a permanent waterproofing process. The result is a water-repellent, oil-repellent, breathable, hypoallergenic and antibacterial fabric that maintains its properties even after several machine washes.

Why should I chose a stain-resistant fabric sofa?

Reliability, elegance, but above all a committment to our customers' well being. In fact, Doimo Salotti's stain-resistant fabrics comply with all the human-technological requirements established for products in direct contact with the skin.

Doimo Salotti offers various stain, antibacterial and hypoallergenic fabrics in its range.

How to clean a stain-resistant fabric

In case the fabric comes into contact with water-based substances such as coffee, wine, soft drinks, or oil-based substances such as fat, oil, sauces, just remove the stain with a dry cloth or absorbent kitchen paper without applying pressure on the fabric. In case of residue or penetration due to excessive pressure, dab with a non-abrasive damp sponge and if necessary use a small quantity of neutral soap, then rinse thoroughly with a clean sponge. What if I want to wash it? In this case, our advice is to use a small amount of neutral detergent and avoid any other additives. Our stain-resistant fabrics are washable at 30 C degrees.
