The 5 FAQs about upholstered furniture

Our work leads us to be in daily contact with your questions and curiosities. We collect statistics on the most frequent customers’ doubts, with regard to the whole world of upholstery furniture. In this article our staff will answer the five most common questions, with the belief that this mini-guide will be useful for many.

1. Can I change the sofa’s covering?
All the fabric, eco-leather or microfibre sofas by Doimo Salotti are completely removable. This feature allows you to require the replacement of the coverings even after years from the purchase. We ensure the availability of the purchased sofa’s covering up to 10 years from the eventual discontinuation of the model.
This means that even if the sofa has been discontinued, for another 10 years we can create and give you a new covering.
Of course, Doimo Salotti has constantly updated its collectios of fabrics and therefore we recommend you to contact your trusted in order to choose the best fabric, suitable for you, also scratchproof or stain resistant.

2. Can I change the base supports of my sofa?
If the sofa already consents several possibilities in terms of colors and shapes for its base supports you can change them, otherwise it’s not possible. To order them, just contact a Doimo Salotti reatiler in your area, who will give you all the needed information.

3. How do I clean the eco-leather covering?
A proper maintenance is essential for eco-leather coverings. NO to degreasers. They clean well, but after a short period (it depends on how much you use them) your sofa can be inexorably ruined; technically it is called "cooked" by this aggressive detergent. If you really have to remove stains , use a sponge soaked in water and a small amount of neutral soap, but dry the surface very well after the cleaning. Moisture damages eco-leather too!

4. Are there any anti-scratch coverings?
Any covering can guarantee a 100% anti-scratch resistance. However, there are some fabrics which, due to their structure, make the tearing and fraying of the weave more difficult. Usually they are technical coatings with polyesters, such as some microfibers (ECOFIBER) or fabrics with dense and closed structures such as stain-resistant and water-repellent (EMI or EVIA). Keep in mind that the choice of easily washable fabrics or an eventual sofa with removable cover can make the difference.

5. Can I remove the L-element and replace it with an armrest?
It depends on the type of sofa you purchased. If the sofa has a bayonet coupling system the change it’s possible, otherwise it’s not.

1. Can the sofa covers be changed?

All Doimo Salotti sofa covers, made of fabric, eco-leather, or microfiber, are completely removable. This feature allows you to reorder even just a replacement cover. We guarantee availability—that is, the possibility of still finding the covers for your sofa—for up to 10 years after the model is discontinued.
This means that even if the product is no longer in production, we can cut and tailor new covers for you for another 10 years.
Of course, Doimo Salotti constantly updates its fabric collection over the years, so we recommend contacting your trusted retailer to choose the most suitable fabric for you, including scratch- and stain-resistant options.

2. Can the feet be changed?

If your living room set already includes multiple leg options or colors, you can change them; otherwise, you can't. To order them, simply contact a Doimo Salotti dealer in your area, who will provide you with all the information you need.

3. How do you clean eco-leather?

Proper maintenance is essential for upholstery commercially known as "faux leather." Avoid degreasers. They clean well, but after a short time (depending on how often you use them), your upholstery may need to be thrown away; technically, it's "cooked" by this aggressive detergent. If you absolutely must remove stains, use a sponge soaked in water and a small amount of neutral soap, but dry the upholstery thoroughly. Humidity also damages faux leather!

4. Are there scratch-resistant fabrics?

No covering can guarantee 100% scratch resistance. However, there are some fabrics whose structure makes tearing and fraying more difficult. These are usually technical coverings bonded with polyesters, such as certain microfibers (ECOFIBER), or fabrics with dense, closed structures such as stain- and water-repellent (EMI or EVIA). Keep in mind that choosing easily washable fabrics or, if you choose a sofa, removable covers is also important.

5. Can I remove the peninsula and add the armrest?

Again, the answer depends on the living room you purchased. If the model has a bayonet attachment system, you will be able to change it; otherwise, you won't.

Stain and water resistant fabrics for sofas and armchairs

The sofas by Doimo Salotti can all be covered with stain-resistant fabrics and they represent the perfect union between pleasantness and resistance to liquids, both oily and aqueous, which do not penetrate thanks to the special stain-resistant treatment of the fabric.

All this is possible thanks to the research and implementation of innovative nanotechnologies capable of operating directly on the fabric yarn, a permanent waterproofing process. The result is a water-repellent, oil-repellent, breathable, hypoallergenic and antibacterial fabric that maintains its characteristics even after several washes.

Why should I chose a stain-resistant fabric sofa?

Reliability, elegance, but above all respect for the health of our customers. In fact, Doimo Salotti's stain-resistant fabrics comply with all the human-technological requirements established for products in direct contact with the skin.

The stain, antibacterial and hypoallergenic fabrics of various colors are the EMI and EVIA fabrics. The latter with hand-peach effect.

How to restore a stain-resistant fabric

In case the fabric comes into contact with aqueous substances such as coffee, wine, soft drinks, or oily substances such as fat, oil, sauces, just remove the stain with a dry cloth or absorbent kitchen paper without applying pressure on the fabric. In case of permanence or penetration due to excessive pressure, dab with a non-abrasive damp sponge and if necessary use a small quantity of neutral soap, then rinse thoroughly with a clean sponge. What if I want to wash it? In this case, our advice is to use a small amount of neutral detergent and avoid any other additives. Our stain-resistant fabrics are washable at 30 C degrees.
